There is also a teenage and young adult unit. The new hospital is in addition to The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre’s existing centres in Wirral and Aintree, and its chemotherapy and outpatient services in other hospitals across the region.

The building is rated BREEAM Excellent and of exceptional quality.

Dynamic control systems help the building perform more than 50% better than the Department of Health’s guideline targets. More than 30% of electrical demand is generated onsite by low and zero carbon systems such as photovoltaic panels, leading to a 24% reduction in regulated CO2 emissions.

Delivered on time and on budget despite significant change in scope midway through the design, which required a redesign of most of the building and the addition of three more floors, this state-of-the-art hospital offers cutting edge care to people who most need it.
