The PAM Building business takes our responsibilities towards our planet extremely seriously. Read on for examples of how we are totally committed to caring for the environment in which we operate. Unlike plastics, our products are infinitely recyclable, fully supporting our industry, national and global circular economy objectives.
Environmental Product Declaration
- We are delighted that our Ensign Soil and Ensign Drain ranges have now been granted EPD approval. Environmental Product Declarations give the consumer accurate information on the materials that our products are made from and, importantly, how they impact the environment across their entire life cycle, giving the customer greater choice and product knowledge.
Biodiversity
- Our Telford site has worked closely with the Shropshire Wildlife Trust to re-wild its old landfill site and provide a sanctuary for wildlife. Since our landfill was closed, hundreds of trees were planted on one half of the former landfill site and the other half was hydro-seeded using a special seed to encourage butterfly and bees with grazing patches.

Do you need training?
We offer product training to meet your needs on a wide range of our products in our purpose-built training room. The training will be a mix of classroom, live demos, hands-on practical experience and a factory tour to see how the products you use are made.
Waste Reduction
- At our Telford site, there has been zero waste to landfill since January 2019 with all our waste being recycled.
- NOTHING IS WASTED: EVERYTHING IS RECYCLED
- Cast iron pipe systems are based on the principle of modular ranges of removable components. Their mechanical assemblies are reversible.
- You can change your mind today or even tomorrow. When pipe systems are disassembled or modified, these components can be reused, which cuts down on waste dumping.
*Recycled content: proportion, by mass, of recycled material in a product or packaging. Only pre-consumer and post-consumer materials shall be considered recycled content.
** Pre-consumer material: material diverted from the waste stream during a manufacturing process. This excludes the reuse of materials such as rework, regrind, or scrap generated in a process and capable of being reclaimed within the same process that generated it.
*** Post-consumer material: material generated by households or commercial, industrial and institutional facilities in their role as end users of the product which can no longer be used for its intended purpose.
Energy and Carbon Emissions
- In 2020, PAM Building successfully retained our CEMARS gold standard, based on a 5-year trend – 23.97% lower carbon emissions than 2010.
- We are working towards our target of continuous reduction year on year and to be Net Carbon Zero across all aspects of our business by 2050.
